TNOG is led by experienced oil and gas experts who have operated in the Niger Delta, with a combined experience of over 200 years.


As a team, we are committed to transforming the oil and gas sector by developing and deploying a new way of operating in the Niger Delta. We have established a track record as a trusted stakeholder in the Niger Delta, demonstrated by the seamless management of our existing assets, OPL 2008 and OPL 281.

Tony O. Elumelu CON

  • Tony O. Elumelu is an economist by training, a serial entrepreneur, and philanthropist.
  • Over 30 years of industry experience across key sectors including oil and gas, finance and investments.
  • Currently serves as Chairman of African proprietary investment company, Heirs Holdings; pan-African bank with presence in 19 African countries, United Bank of Africa (UBA); and Nigeria’s most diversified conglomerate, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (“Transcorp”).
  • Previously served as Managing Director of United Bank Africa after leading the largest merger in the history of the Nigerian banking sector (UBA-Standard Bank merger).
  • A member of the Nigerian President’s Agricultural Transformation Implementation Council
  • Co-Chair of the Aspen Institute Dialogue Series on Global Food Security.

Dr. Tony Chukwueke

  • Over 35 years’ industry experience in the oil & gas and energy sectors.
  • Formerly Senior Exploration & Commercial Manager at Shell Petroleum Development Company and went on to work for Shell International and was responsible for gas development in North Africa.
  • Previously served as Senior Advisor to the Minister of Petroleum (Nigeria) and then Director of the Department of Petroleum Resources (Nigeria) where he initiated reforms to production sharing contracts and fiscal arrangements in offshore leases.
  • Holds a first degree in Physics, a Masters in Applied Geophysics and a PhD in Geology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Dr Chris Haynes OBE

  • Over 39 years of experience with the Shell Group of companies.
  • Worked in several countries around the globe and across the full range of oil and gas exploitation business functions, including as General Manager of Shell’s operations in Syria, GM East and Development Director SPDC Nigeria, Managing Director, Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas, Limited and EVP Projects Shell International.
  • Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and was appointed to the Order of the British Empire in June 2009 for his services to the British oil and gas industry in Nigeria.
  • Serves as non-executive director of Woodside and Worley Parsons.
  • Holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester and a DPhil in Applied Science from the University of Sussex.

Erik Vollebregt

  • Seasoned oil & gas executive and energy technology venture capital investment manager.
  • Over 30 years of experience in the global energy industry and over 10 years in a $1billion (Corporate) Venture Capital Activity
  • Held management roles in Royal Dutch Shell including Project Manager, Billiton Metals Divestment; GM, Shell companies in Zaire; Group Chief Internal Auditor; Manager/Negotiator of the disposal of Shell’s global Billiton metals business and IPO of the Australian gold assets and Commercial and Finance Director of Shell Companies in Nigeria in charge of Shell Nigeria’s business development and growth agenda.
  • Holds a Master’s degree in economics from Rotterdam University and in law from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Tom Hooft Van Huysduynen

  • Has 36 years of Oil & Gas experience working for Royal Dutch Shell Companies across the globe, primarily in mega projects and technical development as project Director/Technical Manager in countries as diverse as Iraq, Ireland, Russia, Gabon, Nigeria, UK etc.
  • Worked on broadening assignments in Finance/Commercial in both Gabon and the Netherlands.
  • He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delft University, is a European Engineer (FEANI), a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (FMechE) and an alumnus of Harvard Business School.

Upali Jayasinghe

  • Over forty years of experience in contracting, petrochemicals, oil & gas, and power industries, encompassing engineering management, process and project design, gas processing and refining, nuclear & gas turbine power generation, and major refinery expansion projects.
  • Worked in British Gas, England, Kuwait National Petroleum Co, Lanuf Oil & Gas Processing, Libya, Foster Wheeler (UK), Lyk Engineering (Port Harcourt), and Titan Engineers and Constructors, Port Harcourt.
  • Worked as Lead Process engineer, Design Engineering Services, with Exxon Mobil/Mobil Producing Nigeria Limited, supervising detailed design for a 54km offshore pipeline and onshore facilities including custody metering units to supply 400MMscfd of gas to a power plant and a methanol plant.
  • Developed FEED for Domestic Gas Project – Phase II, involving delivering 330 Mscfd of gas to the domestic market.

Sam Nwanze

  • Over 20 years of experience in finance and banking.
  • Currently serves as Chief Investment Officer at Heirs Holdings he is responsible for the administration and management of the group’s overall financial activities and investment programmes.
  • Prior to joining Heirs Holdings, Sam worked in banking institutions in various roles where he oversaw strategy, financial control, performance management, and Treasury, he previously served as Group Treasurer, CFO Bank PHB Plc.
  • He is currently a board member of Africa Prudential Registrars Plc, Avon HMO and NASD.
  • Holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Management from Cranfield School of Management (UK).

Dr Glenn Bestall

  • Over 30 years of experience in industrial sectors ranging from (upstream/downstream) oil/gas, chemicals and mining in countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Angola, UK, USA, China, Germany, Spain, Holland et al.
  • Experienced senior practitioner of QHSSE/CSR/LCD personnel, team building, management, organisational/business financial/budgetary forecasting and planning at both corporate and project levels and is particularly adept in the areas of company QHSSE/CSR/NCD policy development and deployment of subsequent management frameworks and systems across the group/company.
  • Skilled at liaising with national and state regulatory authorities, licensing and permitting authorities, NGOs, CBOs, World Bank, IFC, MIGA, private investors and risk guarantors and other stakeholders to achieve on-time and compliant project/operational delivery and onward due diligence reporting.
  • Recently held the position of ‘Vice President – QHSSE/CSR/LCD with Seven Energy based in Lagos, Nigeria with past senior positions served in IOCs and other ‘independents’.

Okechukwu Ohanta

  • Experience oil & gas and energy professional with over 15 years of experience
  • Sub-surface expert with extensive professional experience in Seismic Interpretation, Reservoir Characterization, 3D Earth modeling, production forecast and field development.
  • Has been involved in Field Development Plans and Reservoir Management of most oil and gas fields in the Eastern and Western Niger Delta (OML 65, OML 11, OML 88, OML 111, OML 19, OML 63, OML 60, OML 19, OML 68, OPL 2008 and OPL 281).
  • Worked in Laser Engineering, Nigeria Petroleum and Development Company (NPDC), Planoplex and Tenoil Petroleum and Energy Services Limited.
  • Active member of SPE, NAPE, NMGS and COMEG.
  • Has a B.Sc. in Geology from University of Nigeria Nsukka and M. Sc. in Reservoir and Petroleum Geosciences from University of Port Harcourt.

Obong Idiong

  • A legal practitioner with over 15 years of experience in corporate and commercial practice.
  • Legal Adviser/Company Secretary at Heirs Holdings.
  • Member of the Nigerian Bar Association as well as the Society of Corporate Governance of Nigeria, and has a certificate of achievement in Six Sigma from Villanova University, Philadelphia.
